Inspired by Japanese Myth, Thai Monster Movie “Omukade” Unleashes a Terrifying Trailer
A chilling new creature feature rooted in Japanese mythology is nearing completion. Titled Omukade, the Thai horror film is currently in post-production, and a jaw-dropping trailer has just premiered — delivering a first glimpse into this nightmarish vision.
Directed by Pakphum Wongjinda and Chalit Krileadmongkon, Omukade has yet to secure a U.S. distributor. However, the recently unveiled trailer offers a chaotic and unforgettable peek at the monstrous horror awaiting audiences.
The creature at the heart of the story is nothing short of wild — an unholy fusion of folklore and terror that’s best experienced firsthand.
The cast includes Narilya Gulmongkolpech (The Medium), Daung (The Only Mom), James Laver (The Cave), Yasaka Chaisorn (The Medium), along with Hideki Nagayama and Ryota Omi.
Set during the Japanese occupation of Thailand in World War II, the plot follows a group of Japanese soldiers and prisoners of war trapped inside a haunted mine. As fear and suspicion mount, an ancient supernatural entity awakens, forcing enemies to rely on each other in order to survive.
As the boundaries between enemy and ally dissolve in the face of pure evil, Omukade delivers more than jump scares — it offers a potent reflection on war and unity.
According to the filmmakers, the project isn’t just a horror story — it’s a haunting allegory that emphasizes how true survival depends not on conflict, but on overcoming the darkness that plagues all of humanity.
Directors Wongjinda and Krileadmongkon are no strangers to monster cinema. They previously helmed The 100, a Thai creature thriller that made its U.S. debut in 2023 under the title Creepy Crawly.
